After college, I was overwhelmed by many life changes that were seemingly piling up one after another. Starting my career in medicine amidst the pandemic, moving into Baltimore City, ending a long term relationship and dealing with some health issues of my own. Anxiety and doubt consumed me.

I got involved with the church and then felt God calling me to give back. I joined the OPS team and later started a small group. Before small group, I didn't have friends who I could talk with about my faith regularly. This has been so important for my own growth because it's made my faith an active part of my life, not just something I do/practice in private or on the weekends at mass. They have become friends that I will cherish forever.

I love the relationships I've formed within my small group. It's so comforting to know that you're spending time with people who are in a similar stage of life and share the same values and faith as you do. It makes being vulnerable and showing up authentically so much easier.

I've pretty much always been connected to Nativity but jumped in with two feet after college. I wanted to grow deeper in community and faith. I’ve been a part of Nativity’s band for 11 years and growing up I was in small groups throughout high school. I wanted to reconnect with Christ and to do this, I wanted to join a new small group. Little did I know that I would make life long connections with the people in my group- who I can count on for anything.

Through the best of times and most challenging experiences, I have found a place where I can find comfort, friendship, and call home. I’m looking forward to continued connection with young adults both in and out of my small group and can’t wait to see what God has in store this season.

I came to Nativity shortly after my best friend passed away and started serving in NextGen ministry. I was looking for a church that people are excited to go to every weekend and a community to lean on, complete with messages that really spoke to me and strengthened my faith. Nativity was the perfect fit. Serving in NextGen, I not only received help and support during a tough time from fellow leaders, but I was also able to share my story with younger girls to help them later on in life when God inevitably will test their faith. Working in this ministry is exactly the way Anna would have wanted her legacy passed down. She had a strong faith no matter what she was going through and loved doing service work. I still think about her every weekend I serve, and I couldn’t be more grateful to her and God for leading me to a church I love.

I love making friends who have the same core beliefs and values as me and are going through similar life transitions. I can always count on them to pray for me when things get tough and celebrate with me when things are going well. It’s also always nice to hear their stories and learn from their faith experiences.

I was completely lost in my faith until I met my now wife, Steph. During COVID we were searching online for interesting Masses to watch and stumbled upon Nativity. We were “hooked” from the get go because of the messages and music. Shortly after we would become “hooked” due to the service opportunities and sense of community, once we were able to go in person. Steph convinced me to lead a 9th grade boys next-gen small group after she had led for a year. To say it was rewarding would be an understatement. I learned so much about myself, my faith, and more.

I found out about Nativity while on a beach in Mexico back in 2016. I happened to meet a couple from the Timonium area at the resort and they told me all about the amazingness of the Nativity community. Upon returning from my trip, I went to a mass that following weekend and knew I had found my church home. Next, I joined a small group and grew with a great group of girls that were in a similar stage in life as myself.

I ended up meeting my now husband at a Young Adults axe throwing event and was grateful for the opportunity to connect with someone who also shares my faith. I have a heart for not only bringing young adults together, but growing in fellowship and community and just having fun!

I was looking for new social connections and to grow spirituality and joined a young adult small group. I have felt so welcomed by my leaders and members and grateful to meet new friends through my group. They are the people that I connect with in a deeper way.

I really have enjoyed meeting other people my age where I can have open and honest conversation about my faith. They challenge me and bring new ideas to the table. I love having people I can pray with and support me spiritually.

One of my college mentors taught me the importance of living with a “why not” mentality. So when small group launch weekend came along and Father Michael encouraged people to join a small group I thought “why not?”, I’ll give it a try.

I like meeting people my age who share similar values and mindsets. Nativity feels like a home away from home and it’s wonderful to have a church community nearby.

I decided to look into joining a small group during the Lent season of 2021- I had been at Nativity for a few months, and felt ready to become more involved! I was drawn to a young adult group in my area and was excited to relate and connect with them! I am so thankful for my group- it has been so helpful to have a group of friends in a similar life stage, navigating adulthood at the same time as me!

When I entered a new and unexpected medical journey with multiple sclerosis, my small group became a source of encouragement and support, walking with me through my journey (quite literally, when they joined my Walk MS team as well!). I am so thankful for each member and the unique perspectives and qualities they bring to our group!

Since coming to Nativity and joining the community, my passion to guide people in their faith, and their journey with Jesus, has grown - as well as my own faith journey!! I get excited to go to church as well as my weekly young adult small group. I am so glad I took the chance and joined during Lent!

I love my women’s small group. I instantly felt like I was accepted just the way I am and I am able to be vulnerable. It has definitely allowed me to grow in my faith. I look forward to it every week!

If you would have told me just two years ago where I would be right now, I definitely would have called you crazy. Multiple things occurred in my life that made me subconsciously ask the question “God, where are you?”…I debated if God could even be real.

After a hard breakup, I was just depressed. Finally, I just said, “God I will submit my will to yours. Please help me.” I started to read the Bible more and I started to read it every day. When I started connecting in ministry, I felt a change- I felt better. I felt whole.

I love the community we’ve been able to build in my small groups!! As we’ve grown together in faith, we’ve also grown together personally. We each know we can reach out to each other about anything.
